The United States and Iran have reached an agreement for a two-week ceasefire. European leaders welcomed this step and called for a final diplomatic resolution to the conflict in the coming days.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a joint statement from leaders of several European countries and Japan, published on the website of the European Union Council.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The joint statement emphasizes that the priority now should be preparing for a complete cessation of war<\/strong>.<\/p>\n European politicians stressed that achieving sustainable peace can only be done through diplomatic means. They called on all parties to strictly adhere to the ceasefire<\/strong>, particularly in the territory of Lebanon.<\/p>\n Protection of civilians and energy security<\/p>\n The participants in the statement emphasized that the success of the negotiations is critically important for the security of the entire Middle East and for the protection of the civilian population<\/strong> of Iran.<\/p>\n “This will be crucial for protecting the civilian population of Iran and ensuring security in the region. It can prevent a serious global energy crisis,” the statement reads.<\/p>\n Additionally, the governments of the signatory countries confirmed their intention to promote freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz<\/strong>, which is a strategic hub for global energy supplies.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n At risk of collapse<\/p>\n It should be noted that the stability of the agreement was threatened almost immediately.
