Therefore, parents need to be able to recognize dangerous communication in time and protect their child from online manipulation.<\/p>\n<p>This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a publication from the press service of the Patrol Police of Kyiv on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read also<\/strong>: Smartphones in class: can schools ban gadgets<br \/>\nWhat is cyber grooming and why is it dangerous<\/p>\n<p>According to law enforcement information, cyber grooming is the establishment of trusting relationships between adults and children:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>through social networks;<\/li>\n<li>through fake accounts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The dangerous <strong>goal of cyber grooming is to obtain explicit photographs and videos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>How parents can protect children online<\/p>\n<p>To prevent cyber grooming, the police advise, first of all, to teach the child:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to keep personal information secret;<\/li>\n<li>to be cautious about online acquaintances.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;Help <strong>set privacy settings for the child&#8217;s accounts<\/strong> on various social networks and monitor who follows their accounts,&#8221; the police explained.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, children are encouraged to <strong>periodically review their followers<\/strong> and (if necessary) <strong>remove suspicious accounts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Talk about the importance of digital reputation and its impact on real life,&#8221; law enforcement noted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"926\" src=\"\/static\/ckef2\/img\/image_21103.png\" width=\"926\" \/>Cyber grooming is a dangerous phenomenon (infographic: facebook.com\/kyivpatrol)<\/p>\n<p>To protect the child from negative and even dangerous online influences, <strong>adults are also advised to<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>set necessary settings to protect the device used by the child;<\/li>\n<li>establish rules for internet use, and if necessary, monitor the child&#8217;s online activity;<\/li>\n<li>definitely set up two-factor authentication to protect accounts;<\/li>\n<li>teach the child to use strong passwords (and not to share them with anyone);<\/li>\n<li>agree that during learning, the child will only use specific platforms with educational material approved by teachers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"540\" src=\"\/static\/ckef2\/img\/image_21104.png\" width=\"684\" \/>Publication from law enforcement (screenshot: facebook.com\/kyivpatrol)<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, the police advised to <strong>maintain open communication about online experiences<\/strong> so that the child can freely share any concerns.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Be ready to listen and help<\/strong> in difficult situations.
