The heads of the foreign ministries of Ukraine and Syria discussed a number of cooperation issues <\/p>\n
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced that the Syrian embassy will reopen in Kyiv. In turn, a Ukrainian embassy will be opened in Damascus.<\/p>\n
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Sibiga’s post on social media platform X.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Primarily, the discussion focused on security, as the security of Europe and the Middle East are interconnected.<\/p>\n “We will continue our joint work to achieve lasting peace for our peoples. We also discussed logistics, including the development of trade and maritime routes\u2014areas with great potential for deepening economic cooperation,” the minister stated.<\/p>\n Sibiga emphasized that food security remains an important direction. According to him, Ukraine is ready to contribute, including through the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative, to support stability in the region.<\/p>\n “Bilateral trade has already increased ninefold since the signing of the Joint Communiqu\u00e9 on the restoration of diplomatic relations, and we see clear opportunities for further expansion,” he noted.<\/p>\n Additionally, the parties discussed humanitarian and educational cooperation. The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasized that many students from Syria have studied and continue to study in Ukraine. He explained that this is a solid foundation on which the countries intend to build further cooperation.<\/p>\n Summarizing, Sibiga added that the countries will resume the work of their embassies.<\/p>\n “We agreed to reopen the embassies in Kyiv and Damascus in the near future\u2014an important step in strengthening our partnership,” concluded the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.<\/p>\n Ukraine and Syria are drawing closer<\/p>\n Recall that on April 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Syria. He stated that the purpose of the trip was to continue Kyiv’s diplomacy for “real security and economic interaction.”<\/p>\n Later, Zelensky reported that he met with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa.
