Zadornov had previously filed a lawsuit against the U.S. in 2024, seeking to lift sanctions. <\/p>\n

The U.S. lifted sanctions on former Russian Finance Minister Mikhail Zadornov on April 3.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The statement notes that sanctions against Zadornov are being lifted. No reason for the removal of sanctions on the former Russian minister is provided.<\/p>\n

Mikhail Zadornov had been under U.S. sanctions since 2022. He led the Russian bank “Otkritie” and was involved in providing a significant source of income for the Russian regime. Thus, Zadornov’s bank financed the war and genocide of civilians in Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Zadornov, who headed the Russian Ministry of Finance from 1997 to 1999, filed a lawsuit in the U.S. in 2024 demanding the lifting of sanctions. Zadornov stated that he no longer heads the bank, and therefore, there are no grounds for their imposition.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that the U.S. continues its policy of easing sanctions against the Russian Federation. In particular, on March 31, the U.S. removed certain Russian vessels, including container ships under the Russian flag, from the sanctions list. The corresponding general license allows for the completion of operations for unloading oil loaded before March 12.<\/p>\n

On March 18, the U.S. removed three companies and three individuals associated with Russia from the sanctions list. Washington did not provide any explanation for its actions. However, just a few days prior, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Washington had temporarily eased sanctions on Russian oil to “stabilize the global market” amid the energy crisis.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
