Also read:<\/strong> Trump offered to buy peace with Iran or continue the war, – media<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), stated that the US strikes resulted in a “reduction” of Iran’s and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ ability to attack vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n “As we work side by side, we also remain focused on eliminating the long-standing threat to free trade posed by Iran throughout the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.<\/p>\n According to Cooper, US forces targeted an underground facility of the Iranian army. This facility housed radar systems that allowed for the monitoring of shipping.<\/p>\n “The strike destroyed intelligence outposts and missile radars that were used to observe vessel movements… As a result, Iran’s ability to threaten the freedom of navigation in and around the Strait of Hormuz has been weakened,” Cooper noted.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n It is worth recalling that after the US and Israeli strikes on Iran at the end of February, Iran began attacking commercial vessels and threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz. In just a few weeks, more than 20 merchant ships were attacked or damaged, and some crew members were killed or went missing.<\/p>\n As a result, most shipping companies halted their routes through the strait, and tanker traffic nearly came to a standstill. Iran is also demanding fees from tankers for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n In fact, the US war with Iran is spiraling out of President Donald Trump’s control in its third week due to rising oil prices and NATO allies’ refusal to intervene in the conflict.
